"If a tree falls in the forest, be there to hear it!"
I'm Mike Maloney and I decided to rejoin the Troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster to give back to the organization that gave me so much. As a Scout, Troop 125 was directly responsible for breaking me out of my introvert shell and set a positive foundation for a successful future. As the VC Scoutmaster I typically only interact with the older more experienced scouts and focus on high adventure activities and advanced outdoor skills. As the Committee Chair my goal is to enhance each participants experience and ensure our troops 5 core concepts are adhered to in all activities. I also am the webmaster for this site and video editor for the promotional videos.
I was born and raised in Santa Rosa and studied at Piner High, the SRJC and the University of San Francisco. I currently work for the City of Santa Rosa in the Planning and Economic Development Dept. I have an immense sense of wilderness wanderlust and a grand appreciation for outdoor activities and adventure sports including (but not limited to) skydiving, mountain biking, riding my Harley, backpacking treks and just about any water activity. I hope to thru-hike the JMT, summit Mt.Shasta, Whitney and Half Dome, start competitive boxing, complete my skydiving certifications and cage dive with great whites in the near future.
Here's a rough draft of an assignment I once wrote about overcoming adversity & how Troop 125 was such an integral part of my development: Flight of the Phoenix
